Looking after your skin in summer can prove just as much as a challenge as it does in the winter!

When I came back from Egypt in April, I found my skin felt dry and flaky.  Do you ever find this after a holiday in a warm climate?  I soon whipped it back into shape though, by following my steps below!

We tend to think of winter skin being dry and dull looking, but this can also happen in the summer too.  The warmer weather can cause you skin to over heat and may result in dry flakey patches.

Sunbathing on holiday can give your skin a fabulous golden glow, but when you’ve been home for a couple of weeks and your tan begins to fade, it can look uneven and patchy.

So what can you do to have stunning summer skin?

Face

Moisturise – not just outside, but inside too. Keep up the fluids (not just Pina Coladas)

Protect – from the sun.  Wear a hat and a good planet friendly sunscreen

Treat – exfoliate at least twice a week with a gentle, non abrasive, plant based exfoliator (top tip, if you’re inclined to forget, keep your chosen product near your shampoo and use it each time you wash your hair)

Body

Skin Brushing – if you haven’t tried this yet, it’s a game changer.  Using a hand held bristle brush

Brush your skin with long vigorous strokes from your feet up towards your waist, across your hips, anti clockwise in circles on your tummy. Then hands to shoulders. Hop in the shower when you’re done.

Exfoliate – your body exfoliator will be coarser in texture than your face product. Use it in the shower a couple of times a week.

Moisturise – use a good body cream after EVERY  shower or bath. Choose one that soaks in and doesn’t leave any stickiness. (top tip, add a few drops of fake tan to your body cream to gently prolong or build a subtle glow)
