FAQs
1. Where do you work?
I work just outside Eastbourne and throughout East Sussex. Should you happen to live further afield, that’s fine, although I may have to charge – for travel time. I can work online too. The best way is to contact me to find out more about each other.
2. What are the benefits of colour, style and image consultancy services?
What I find is that many women tell me that they simply don’t feel at their best on a daily basis. With busy home and work commitments, choosing clothes isn’t always easy or at the top of the priority list. I find that women make impulse or rushed purchases, are unhappy with the results and often envy what friends or colleagues look like. I’ll help you to increase your confidence and quite honestly, start to feel good – about your shape, your style, the colours and fabrics you are wearing.
3. Why is this a good idea? Surely clothes and make-up are trivial?
There is nothing shallow or irrelevant about looking good as it makes you feel good. First and foremost, I enable and empower women to embrace a new lifestyle or a change in circumstances with confidence when wearing different colours, different shades and different clothes.
4. Please tell me that you’re not going to tell me what to wear like the tv programmes?
No, not at all, I promise! That’s just not my style of working. I’ll suggest that you try something different or new, but I’m not in the least bit prescriptive.
I’ll encourage you to give yourself permission to move away from colours or styles that may not be doing you justice. In fact, it’s all about adding to what you already have, to build and enhance your look.
5. I can never find anything to suit me. How can I know that you can?
I am a fully accredited personal image consultant, skincare and make-up consultant. I’m aware of all the colours and shades in the colour spectrum and I know where to buy clothes in the shops and online.
I’ve helped dozens and dozens of women of all ages and dress sizes to gain new freedom and confidence in their style choices. I’m experienced enough to understand instinctively what will suit your particular personality, lifestyle and body. I can’t do your accounts, or fix your car but I do make you look great!
6. I’d like to have a wardrobe update but I’m embarrassed to show you what I have – or what I don’t have!
Don’t be. Really, don’t be. I too have experienced the nothing-to-wear over-stuffed wardrobe, or the under- stuffed wardrobe too. We’ve all made mistakes – in some cases expensive ones!
Actually, I have no doubt that several items in your wardrobe are just right for you. Some pieces may be sentimental to you too which is important. I can show you how to make the best of these too. I’ll help you to sort and edit to make every single piece of clothing your go-to piece.
7. I need to lose weight. Should I wait until I’ve lost the weight and contact you then?
No! Now is the perfect time to get in touch. Colour, style and image consultancy is about helping you to make the most of your figure now, not least with affordable pieces that will make you look great as you drop the pounds (if that’s what you want to achieve).
We’ll find some fabulous accessories and maybe even look at a few new make-up products for you. Build your confidence now and you may even find it easier to lose weight.
8. How much does everything cost?
Please see my full list of services and prices here.
9. I can’t afford loads of new clothes, what do I do?
Good quality clothes don’t have to cost a fortune. I never encourage my clients to over-spend on clothes. You don’t have to venture into expensive shops or buy designer item – unless you feel you want to, of course. My focus will be on the High Street and select small business boutiques (and sometimes charity shops) where you may be surprised at what we’ll discover.
Some clothes are worth investing in – a great fitting winter coat in a good colour for you, as an example. I’ll help you to save money by investing in key pieces that you’ll wear again and again.
Realistically, you are going to save money. Without a doubt, spending money on clothes you rarely wear is not good for your self-esteem or your bank balance. That perfect top, in a colour and style that looks fantastic on you, will be an investment.
10. I’m not very good at being told what to do, will you do that?
No! My clients tell me that I’m engaging, calm and totally non-judgemental. I’d like to reassure you that you will be treated with the utmost respect and care. Read what clients say here.
What I often hear is that something or someone has told a client what to do. This has knocked a client’s confidence, particularly if there’s been some big changes to a client’s life. Whatever your personal situation please be reassured that you will be listened to and understood.
Clothes are a fundamental way of expressing who we are. I never forget that my clients have put their total faith and trust in me. In fact, I find it humbling to be honest and I love what I do.
11. Who comes to see you?
My clients are women in their forties, fifties, sixties and beyond. Why? Because I understand and I’m told that I relate to the changes and challenges that you may be experiencing, not only in your personal and professional circumstances but how your body shape and personal image may be different from what it was, or from what you want it to be.
Most of the time I work with women individually. Some ladies want to work with a friend or their mum, and some ladies want to come along to a group workshop, it’s entirely up to you!
12. Where do we start?
We start where you want to start! Most clients want to start with colour advice, or some clients want to start with make-up or skincare consultations. Choose what you want to do first or ask me to put together a bespoke package just for you.
Your new look is just around the corner, a phone call away!
