How I used to be
You may have gathered from previous writings, that I am a huge lover of colour? This means that I’ve always had a wide variety of colours in my wardrobe.
All very nice for a colour lover, but for a Personal Stylist, it meant that I often had difficulty co-ordinating things without looking like a Christmas tree lol!
I would pull out a lovely pair of coloured jeans and then try it with a bright coloured jumper and not feel quite right!
I loved everything in my wardrobe, but it just didn’t have the ‘flow’ that I wanted.
Perhaps this resonates with you, or maybe you are on the other end of the spectrum and fill your wardrobe with just one or two colours? Maybe you feel safe in all shades of grey, with a bit of black and white thrown in?
Most of the clients I see for Colour Analysis fall into one of these two categories. Neither of which allows for a truly versatile and sustainable wardrobe.
The first example can become a bit over the top and the second a little boring.
What held me back
I always had in my mind that if I had a couple of items in the same colour and wanted something new, it had to be in a different colour. Makes sense? What I wasn’t considering was the different seasons and different purposes.
I was also looking at the wrong neutrals for me. I thought the best way to balance my bright colours was with dark shades. Not always the case!
What I did
A while ago now, I started to look at balancing my brights with versions of cream and off-white (I don’t look great in pure white)
I’ve now added shades of chocolate brown, oatmeal and camel. I’ve stopped trying to get as much colour as I can in my wardrobe and stick mainly with shades of pink/coral and green.
Both of these work really well with the browns and creams. Everything now co-ordinates. HAVE A LITTLE LOOK AT MY VIDEO
What ‘tweaks’ could you make to have a super organised wardrobe? Maybe I could help?
