Gorgeous Oscar Dresses (but no red carpet)
I love looking at all the fabulous dresses that come out for the Oscars. Which one would you choose?
As always, there were some pretty amazing creations, some quite classic and some quite OTT, although I didn’t see any that were completely crazy, like some years!
My Top 5 Favourite dresses and why
1 Angela Bassett

Wow colour
If you want to stand out in a crowd, this is definitely a WOW colour. I love this colour against her skin and the way it drapes her body around her waist. It’s all about the draping and almost looks like it’s not actually stitched, just draped around her.
2 Sandra Oh

Unusual Colour
This grecian inspired number is such an unusual colour for the red (not red) carpet. It’s quite a brave colour but it does work with her colouring. It actually looks quite easy to move in and it makes her waist look tiny.
3 Kerry Condon

Soft and Feminine
This relatively simple gown is so pretty, soft and feminine and if you took away the exaggerated train, it could be worn to a prom or a black tie event. The soft lemon yellow is lovely with Kerry’s hair and soft colouring.
4 Halle Bailey

Feminine & Sexy
Another beautifully feminine dress in a most unusual shade of soft blue. I love the simple classic shape of the skirt, coupled with the bustier top. A mix of soft, feminine and sexy.
5 Lady Gaga

Classic with a Twist
And finally, I’ve succumbed to black number. Lady G is looking quite subdued this year, but there is still enough drama with the dropped corset and sheer sleeves. The choker style necklace is a perfect size – or maybe it’s stitched to the dress. I love the structured skirt which must feel amazing to walk in?

NO Red Carpet
For the first time since 1961 there was no red carpet this year. It was instead a ‘sienna/saffron’ colour, to represent the sunset. There doesn’t seem to be any further explanation?
The red carpet is part of our language that is associated with glamour, luxury and of course, high fashion. I wonder if other prestigious events will change their carpet colour too?
It’s going to be quite strange, referring to another colour!
Which would you choose?
I would love to know which of my top 5 you would love to wear, or if you have another favourite from the night?
Thanks so much for reading and see you next time
