When you open your wardrobe do you smile or grimace?
I speak to many women who would rather not look too hard in their wardrobes and are more likely to grimace than smile!
Last month I had some new videos made for my website and one of them features my own wardrobe. I purposely messed it up for the beginning of the shoot and then presented a small colour coded section for the end.
I love a Wardrobe Edit
Making this video was so much fun. However, what it highlighted for me, was how stressful it must be when you can’t find what you’re looking for, because its all a mess. Or when you have something you love, but it doesn’t go with anything else!
I have a full 5 step system that I show my clients, but my video and the tips below can help get you started.
Working on a small section at a time (less overwhelming!) Start to sort things into colour. The next step, within each colour, categorise into purpose, i.e trousers, tops, dresses etc.
If you start to see collections coming together, that’s great, if things appear to be very random, it may be time for a re-think. Follow my top tips below
- Decide on a colour palette that works for your skin tone – warm, cool, deep or light
- Choose one dark and one light neutral
- From your most flattering colour palette decide on 3 basic colours
Working with these steps, you can start to put outfits together, eliminate items that don’t work for you and identify gaps that can bring several outfits together – Don’t forget to make sure they still fit and flatter your body!
