In recent years, we have been been hearing things like ‘your gut is your 2nd brain

Make sure you have a ‘Healthy Microbiome

It’s easy to get confused?

Our gut is now considered to be our 2nd brain, because we now know it has huge impact on every other part of the body.

Our microbiome is the gut ecosystem. To have a healthy microbiome, we need to make sure the good bacteria combats the bad bacteria.  Good bacteria help digest food, absorb nutrients and expel waste.

What upsets the balance?

The balance of our gut bacteria can be upset by:

  1. Pollution from the environment
  2. Pesticides and chemicals in our food
  3. Stress
  4. Medication and so much more…

When there are more bad than good bacteria we can see a negative affect on our immune system, our mood, our energy and even our skin.

So what can we do to support our gut?

We can eat quality fresh food, plenty of fruit and veges. Fermented foods, such as saukraut, kombucha and good natural yogurt.

We can learn to manage stress through meditation, mindfulness and taking enough breaks. Particularly in nature.

Taking a daily support supplement, especially when we are going through a stressful period, and illness, or if you’re feeling a bit run down.

Supplements

Supplements can come in many guises. Tablets, powders, sachets and capsules. They can contain different strains and levels of good bacteria such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria, and some include a digestive enzyme blend too.

In the past, when I’ve suffered severe illness or extreme fatigue, I’ve taken very high doses, always recommend personally by a nutritionist. But now I take and recommend a gentle daily blend of all the 3 elements above, to keep my gut microbiome balanced, healthy and strong.  If you want to ind out more, click here

As always I would love to hear about your experiences. Here’s to a happy, healthy gut!
