Letting go of Clothes you no longer need
It’s hard to let go sometimes!
Last week, I went to a networking event in a jumper I’ve had for a few years.
I haven’t actually worn this jumper much. Not because I don’t like it, I really do, but because it doesn’t really go with anything else in my wardrobe.
My dominant Style Personality is a ‘Classic’, which means that I favour matching. I like co-ordinating outfits. I love colour but not too many in one outfit!
The problem
This jumper has stripes in several colours that I love. However, it also has grey round the hem and grey around the neckline. I have never worn much grey. When I bought the jumper I had one pair of grey jeans (which never really fitted properly) When they went to the charity shop, my stripy jumper hardly saw the light of day. Occasionally coming out to be paired with some other trousers that sort of went, but that I was never really happy with.
After that outing last week, I made the decision to let go of the jumper. It no longer serves me and takes up space in my wardrobe. Although I still love it to look at, it has to go!
Letting go is hard
I understand how hard it can be to let go of old clothes, especially if it’s something you still really like. It can be a difficult process to part with clothes that you have had for a long time and that you have a sentimental attachment to. It’s so tempting to just keep them hanging there – just in case!
If you know it’s time to let go of something that no longer earns it’s place in your wardrobe, a great way to help you with this is to focus on the positive aspects.
Nowadays, it’s so easy to donate unwanted items to a charity shop, where you know they will be picked up and loved by some else (someone who has the perfect grey trousers)
Think of the satisfaction you will get from freeing up space in your wardrobe and the joy that someone else could get from wearing the clothes. It’s a great way to spread the love and I bet you won’t miss it!
Selling online is also super easy with apps like Vinted.
